June 1 and 2, 2007 marked the festive reopening of Bad Elster's NatureTheatre with the performance of Carl Maria von Weber's romantic opera "Der Freischütz" as well as a historical celebration. The spectacular production by the Landesbühnen Sachsen - under the direction of GMD Florian Merz - with its 120 contributors, horse-drawn carriages, the support of the Bad Elster Rifle Club and a closing fireworks show made for an unforgettable cultural experience for the whole family in natural surroundings. This event marked the beginning of this cultural glade's next era. Next to the "Freischütz", highlights of the opening season included an exciting concert from Justus Frantz's Philharmonic of the Nations and Shakespeare's classic "A Midsummer Night's Dream" wrapped up this unique atmosphere.

Additionally, the NatureTheatre captured the hearts of family audiences with their wonderful fairytale productions including "The Cold Heart" (2008), "The Fire Red Flower"(2010), "Rumpelstiltskin" (2011).
