The »Chursachsen« - About us!

The Chursächsische Veranstaltungs GmbH

Building upon the rich cultural and musical tradition of the Royal Saxon State Spa of Bad Elster established in 1817, a theatre company was founded under the initiative of the Saxon state government in 1912. Today, these historical efforts have taken the form of the event association known as the Chursächsische Veranstaltungsgesellschaft.

Then, as now, the association’s goals centre on positioning Bad Elster – a historical town at the heart of Europe – as an outstanding venue for cultural events and festivals with international standing. Today, the Chursächsische Veranstaltungs GmbH is your source for all styles of cultural events in the Saxon State Spa region. We offer a multifaceted programme, mainly centred around the arts, but also host conventions and sporting events at the historical venues belonging to the unique ‘short-distance festival mile’.

Next to the King Albert Theatre, these one-of-a-kind venues include the Royal Convalescene House, the KunstWandelhalle, the NatureTheatrethree music pavilions as well as the Waldpark Bad Elster with the newly reopened Café-Restaurant “Waldschlösschen”, and the Festhalle am See  in the neighbouring town Bad Brambach. What’s more, these outstanding cultural events and  festivals with their complimentary culinary, tourist and spa programmes are offered in this stunning atmosphere fit for Saxony’s royalty.

Furthermore, we oversee the management of the Chursächsische Philharmonic, are responsible for the Saxon Baths museum Bad Elster and operate the Tourist Information Bad Elster , the region’s ticket, information and service centre.

With around 1,000 events per year and over 180,000 visitors, the Chursächsiche Veranstaltungs GmbH is one of the few eastern German market leaders in its sector. For its successful and exemplary activities (in the area of classical music / art / culture) in Saxony, the Chursächsische Veranstaltungs GmbH received official recognition from the Middle German Radio (MDR) in 2004, and from the Initiative Southwestern Saxony in 2006 – with a public honour awarded by the (former) Saxon Minister-President Prof. Georg Milbradt.
